Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited (BFAHK) was established in 2011 and it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hong Kong Society for the Blind. The Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre is managed by BFAHK and supply high quality but affordable Low Vision Devices, Assistive Technologies, Diagnostic Equipment, Low Vision Devices, Mobility Canes, Occluders, Trial Frames & Lenses, UV Absorptive Filters, and Visual Acuity Charts / Tests.
Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited (BFAHK) was established in 2011 and it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hong Kong Society for the Blind. With the vision of “Equality for all with Barrier Free Access”, BFAHK is committed to building an accessible and inclusive community by providing a wide range of services which include provision of barrier free access consultancy services and supply of braille and tactile products, adaptive equipment and supportive services to persons with visual impairment and website accessibility testing services to examine the accessibility of websites by adaptive equipment and software used by the visually impaired. We also strive to explore the feasibility of using innovative and advanced technology to enhance the quality of life of the visually impaired and organize public education events from time to time to enhance public awareness towards barrier free facilities for better social inclusion of the visually impaired.
Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre
The Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre was established at the headquarters of the HKSB in July 2003. The Centre was sponsored by the Christian Blind Mission International, the Dark & Light Blind Care, the Sightsavers International and the Hong Kong Society for the Blind. The Center is currently operated by the BFAHK and it aims to expedite the establishment of low vision clinics and increase the accessibility of low vision services by offering high-quality equipment and device at lower cost for the developing countries. The Centre is a non-profit making project and all income will be contributed to further development of the Centre.
