Equipping and empowering health workers in low-resource settings
Our aim is to help organisations working in low-resource settings to equip, train and empower health workers of all grades to confidently diagnose and manage eye and ear disease.
To do this, we develop and produce a range of low-cost, portable eye and ear healthcare devices. Our innovative and simple designs are affordable, easy-to-use and reliable, and along with targeted learning ensure that users can make on-the-spot decisions themselves.
Social enterprise with experienced interdisciplinary team
Profit from sales of our products in higher resource settings funds distribution and training in regions where disease is greatest yet access to tools the least.
Our team is made up of active clinical practitioners, public health practitioners, designers, artists and inter-professional education experts. Many years of hands-on workshops using simulation tools in low and middle-income countries have helped us refine and tailor teaching to the actual needs of those working on the ground.
Global use of WHO recommended Arclight Ophthalmoscope-Otoscope
This pragmatic and focused approach has steadily led to worldwide adoption of the Arclight. The Arclight Ophthalmoscope-Otoscope is included within World Health Organisation guidelines on new born eye screening and hearing screening.
Over 40,000 Arclights have been distributed and are being used every day by community health workers, nurses, GPs, students, vets and experienced hospital specialists alike.
