The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) was established in 1956, and the Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre established in 2003 to supply high quality but affordable Low Vision Devices, Assistive Technologies, Diagnostic Equipment, Low Vision Devices, Mobility Canes, Occluders, Trial Frames & Lenses, UV Absorptive Filters, and Visual Acuity Charts / Tests.
The Hong Kong Society for the Blind
The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) was established in 1956. Over the years, we have developed a wide range of services for the visually impaired, covering eye care and low vision services, rehabilitation and vocational training, educational support, employment guidance, adaptive technology advisory service, information and communication accessibility through technical means, rehabilitation for persons with visual impairment and other disabilities, and residential care for the aged blind. To improve the well-being of our service users, HKSB will continue to make the best use of its expertise to join forces with all stakeholders to strive for the building of a barrier free society with equal opportunities for all.
Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre
The Vision 2020 Low Vision Resource Centre was established in the headquarters of the HKSB in July 2003. The Centre was sponsored by the Christian Blind Mission International, the Dark & Light Blind Care, the Sightsavers International and the Hong Kong Society for the Blind. The centre aims to expedite the establishment of low vision clinics and increase the accessibility of low vision services by offering high-quality equipment and device at lower cost for the developing countries. The Centre is a non-profit making project, all income will be contributed to further development of the Centre.
